SCBWI Regional Crystal Kite Awards

Congratulations to Glenda Millard who is the inaugural winner of the Crystal Kites Member's Choice Award (CKMCA) for Australia and New Zealand for her gorgeous book A Small Free Kiss In The Dark (Allen&Unwin). Throughout Australia and new Zealand our members voted for their favourite PAL title from 2009. From 2011 not only will these awards be run through our membership but they will be run worldwide. There will be members of the SCBWI all over the world voting for their favourite PAL book published in their division.
Christopher announced the winner at the dinner. Unfortunately Glenda was unable to attend the conference (well she didn't even know she won the award) but that didn't stop Glenda from being part of the celebration. Corrine (Victorian ARA), Lin Oliver (Executive Director SCBWI) and Christopher spoke to a very stunned and elated Glenda on the telephone.
The following day Glenda sent this message:
To be recognised by my fellow writers is, in my esteem, the ultimate accolade. My only wish (apart from being present at the announcement) is that I could thank all voters in person. If you are able, I hope you can pass on a 'e' small free kiss of appreciation to them all.
The wonderful certificate was designed by Serena Geddes (link to www.reeni.com.au), and will be presented to Glenda at the next Victorian meeting.
